Treating Quinlan Kids’ Minor Cuts And Bumps

Spending lots of time outside is important for healthy kids in Quinlan, and with all that outdoor adventure come the inevitable bumps, scrapes, and cuts. But parents in the Rockwall, Plano, and Wylie areas shouldn’t fear, all you need to know are a few simple steps for treating your children’s minor injuries.

A minor cut should stop bleeding on its own, but using a clean cloth and applying gentle pressure may be necessary.

Once bleeding has stopped, rinse the wound with water and pull out any debris with alcohol-cleansed tweezers. The area around the wound can be cleaned with mild soap and a washcloth, no hydrogen peroxide or alcohol is necessary.

Once the wound is clean, apply a thin layer of antibiotic cream or ointment. Appropriate topical antibiotics can be found at any drugstore in the Quinlan area. Next, you should cover your child’s wound with a bandage. When the bandage becomes wet or dirty it should be changed. Once a wound has healed enough to keep infection out, bandages should not be used since air exposure will speed your child’s healing.

Wylie Home Business Tax Write-Offs

Hello home based business owners in Wylie! Today’s blog is about saving money with home business tax write-offs. If you are running your own direct sales business or online store out of your Wylie home, you can take advantage of several tax breaks.

A percentage of your rent or mortgage and utilities can be deducted. If you use your computer exclusively for running your business, you may be able to write off the entire purchase price. Don’t forget to include the monthly fee to your internet service provider (I put this expense under the utilities category mentioned previously.)

Gasoline and auto maintenance expenses can take a large chunk of your income, especially as Wylie gas prices continue to rise. Don’t forget to expense the business portion of your transportation costs.

You can’t write off 100 percent of business meals eaten in Dallas restaurants, but you may be able to expense 50 percent. The amount may seem too little to bother with, or on the other hand, it may surprise you. The key to getting the most tax savings possible is keeping good records and adding up all the little savings.

Fun Peanut Butter Snacks For Dallas Kids

Healthy, growing children need to snack between meals for proper nutrition. Most Quinlan parents have probably had the experience of forgetting an afternoon snack. What happens? Kids finally notice they’re hungry about an hour before dinner, and boy is it hard to wait!

A great snack ingredient is peanut butter. It is an inexpensive source of protein and calories and gives Quinlan children the nutrients they need to grow and to stay healthy.

Here are some great healthy snack ideas using peanut butter for Plano and Rockwall kids.

Peanut Butter Banana Pops

Bananas, cut in half width-wise
Popsicle sticks
Peanut butter
Chopped nuts, sprinkles, or other topping

Take the popsicle sticks and push them carefully into the cut bananas. Spread peanut butter over the bananas and roll in nuts or other topping. Freeze. Enjoy.

Peanut Butter Balls

This is the kind of recipe you can’t really mess up, and the portions are approximate.

about 1 cup of peanut butter
a few tablespoons of honey (2-3)
a few tablespoons of instant dry milk

Mix everything together until it forms a large ball. Pinch off small pieces of dough, and roll into ball shapes. Store in the refrigerator, and pull them out at snack time.

AAP Immunization Information For Rockwall Parents

In the past century, the rates of many serious diseases in the United States have significantly declined, in some cases, they have been virtually eradicated.

Many Rockwall people have never met a person with measles, polio, small pox, rubella, tetanus, or diphtheria; though these diseases killed thousands of Texas children in past generations.

One of the main reasons many dangerous communicable childhood diseases have been minimized in our area is due to Dallas children’s immunizations. The increase in immunization use has gone a long way to improve health in our Texas communities.

Recently, I have noticed that many Rockwall parents are questioning the children’s immunization schedule. I came across an informative American Academy of Pediatrics FAQ sheet that addresses most of the common concerns.

Podcast Basics For Rockwall MLM Business Bloggers

A podcast is a multimedia file that is downloaded for playback on a mobile device such as an iPod or laptop computer. It can be a digital recording of a radio program or, more often, a program produced solely for online distribution. A podcast can be a recording of a webcast: a live Rockwall program that is ‘streamed’ or broadcast on the internet in real time. When this is the case, it is similar to a DVD recording of a live program that you store in the database of your playback device.

A related term is the acronym RSS which probably originally stood for Rich Site Summary feed but is sometimes used for Really Simple Syndication. You have probably seen the term RSS on websites. An RSS feed allows digital files to be downloaded in a standard format. Dallas podcast listeners often subscribe to favorite ongoing podcasts. When new podcasts are produced, they are automatically downloaded by RSS applications.

It is fairly simple hardware- and software-wise to product your own podcast for your Rockwall online business. Your laptop may already have recording capability. If not, you can buy any equipment you need in the Dallas area.

Dehydration Can Trigger Tantrums In Quinlan

Most Quinlan parents have experienced a tantrum or meltdown with their children. My kids usually lose it when they are hungry or need a nap. Some kids flip out if their routine is altered. My Dallas co-worker claims her kids get crazy when there is a full moon.

Lack of sleep and low blood sugar are the usual suspects causing irritability in my Dallas child, but a new study in the Journal of Nutrition points the finger at another culprit.¹ Dehydration seems to lead to a low mood in healthy women. The study only included young women, but I did a little experiment on my own kids and noticed when they were mildly dehydrated they were fatigued and irritable.
